Mike Upchurch interrupts the live performance of "All You Need is Love" by The Beatles. Recorded on June 25, 1967 for "Our World," the first ever live global television link, this unprecedented broadcast was watched by a record 400 million people in 26 countries. The BBC commissioned the Beatles to write a song for Great Britain's contribution to Our World with a song that identifies "universal human values."
This historic live event was marred by interruptions from American TV writer Mike Upchurch, who sang drunkenly while blocking television cameras covering the event. Mr. Upchurch was arrested and charged with public intoxication, and forced to pay restitution to Ringo Starr after apparently covering the drummer's jacket with vomit. Mr. Upchurch's antics caused a minor stir on both sides of the Atlantic, where he became known by the nickname given him by composer John Lennon, who referred to him as "that piss drunk yank..."
Starring: Mike Upchurch, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr, with a special Appearance by Mick Jagger.
Mike's interruptions occur eight times:
0:10, 0:39, 1:00, 1:20, 1:38, 2:38, 3:04, 3:24
It's really a shame that Mike Upchurch's father didn't use a condom...
