Huron arent extinct, they are still in quebec and ontario.

We just had a Las Vegas based group of Tribal Dancers performing at a wild west festival and the weekend before at a Pioneer Days event. It was awesome to see!

As a Wyandot I can tell you that the last full-blood wyandot died in Detrot around 1830 and the language survived until approximately 1900. There are now efforts in Oklahoma to bring the language back, but you're right these dance costumes reflect the Pan-Indian/Oklahoma dance influence.

Im Kalf Iroquois so i know the Huron very well in that dance that dance refers to spirits of the woodlands, also the war dance they carry HUGE shields so heavy that 4 people have to life it and only 1 person carrying it!!!

Seems Rehearsed, doesnt look like ANYTHING I've seen before.

I can't judge the dance steps because each tribal nation has their own dances but the drumming didn't sound "right", it did sound hollywood-ish...the structure of it just wasn't what I'd expect.

As far as i've learned umm...Huron people were extinct. Algonquin Nation is in that territory...so where does Huron Wendat fall into??? Are you sure this nation is correct?? Are you part of this nation? clintleung?

No, I was just a spectator/videographer. The festival is managed by Native Canadians here in Quebec so I'm assuming that they have some type of control of the content of their event. If you want further details on who this performing group was, feel free to contact the First Peoples Festival in Montreal as they should be able to help you.

What kind of dancing is this? What nation is this? Im from Six Nations Onondaga Clear Sky Nation in Ontario and i never seen this kind of dancing before, so for my information can someone tell me where this dance originated from? No disrespect..im sure the other comment didnt mean to disrespect but it jus doesn't look authentic...Im jus as curious as the next.

Well...I hope you didn't pay to see this...I'm a Native dancer myself, and this doesn't look like ANYTHING I've ever seen or been taught, looks pretty stereotypical to me too...I hope people don't think this is how we really dance...

These dancers are all Canadian goverment issued card carrying members indicating aboriginal Indian status and the event is 100% aboriginal managed. There's no reason to think that their performance isn't authentic. The Huron Wendat are quite far north at the US/Canadian border so perhaps their dances are nothing quite like yours. Respect.
