@MotMaoriGurl kiaora for that, i too am bicultural, Maori and English but my maori mother was ashamed of her culture as was my nana, who got the language smacked out of her at school. when my mother was born she was pale, taking after her father, and the nurses told her that my mum couldn't be her baby because she was too pale. this is what my Maori people have had to endure. As a result I didn't get to see much of where I came from and am just now experiencing a rebirth of sorts. Kia Kaha!

Sum kool whakairo in this vid, Gordon is right about moko being more about identity these days. Maori wear it proudly to show that they are maori, but the majority (this is my opinion) are detached from maori culture. My point being a lot of them don't know the meaning of their tatt

I always come back to listen to this tube, I am not Maori but i am Native To Scotland ( Pict ) is My Clan. I see the Sameness in Story Telling, Land Inhabited By Others, Language Not Allowed To Be Taught Or Spoken,, Genocide for want of better Word, All Indiginous Cultures have been Pillaged. Tears fall From Eyes because I Feel You. But We are Still Here & We Will Be Restored as Guardians Of Mother Earth, It Is Written In The Stars Kia Ora ~ Slàinte mhòr agus a h-uile beannachd duibh. ☆☆☆☆ Kudos

@KaYlAnMoNtEgO you make it sound like every white (western) person is trying to destroy your culture and thats such a shame. A lot of white western people are fascinated by polynesian culture and would love to know more about it.
Please don't stereotype because there are many different people in the western culture. peace!
Kia ora, this vid brought tears to my eyes. I am both Maori and Pakeha but raised away from things Maori...and every time I see my culture in action, artists at work and hear their passion it touches my Spirit. Gordon Toi Hatfield is a Master of Ta Moko and I am mesmerised by his work everytime I see it!
