Most are indeed quiet - but not all. In the UK at least 1 in 6 has noise complains which is surprising given that making a noise complaint has a dramatic effect on the value of your house.

It's not making noise because you are not in the Downstream of the energy flow. Do some research. They make noise.

@gingatim u mad /b/rother?

@mytube8488 My god, you are such a FUCKING idiot, I agree with IceDrangness that just because somebody owns a car does not make them less of an environmentalist than anybody else. Also since you don't allow comments on your video reply (most likely because you are afraid of people with different views than your own) Have you ever been and stood close to a wind turbine, if you stand right underneath it, ofc it will be loud. Move back a few meters and it is almost dead quiet.

@RandomConcepts Whoever said wind power is going to take over? It's still in experimental stages, according to my understanding. I can't say it's efficient right now, but I think it's a good thing to work toward. Give it a chance. As far as the visual, I don't think they ruin landscapes. They do not look industrial, they look like moving sculptures. It depends on individual tastes, but so do a lot of things.

The wind against the camera is MUCH louder! People try to prove that they "make noise" by measuring decibles(sp) and other crap but you don't need to measure anything! Just stand near one and you'll see they aren't as noisy as people make them out to be. Even when the wind speed is up, it's just a relaxing ocean-like sound. It's nothing more than those white noise machines make!

I've been up close to some large turbines under heavy wind.. You can only hear them when you're about 100yds away or less, and even then its a slight whistling/rushing sound as each blade passes. Not louder than wind through trees. For the amount of energy it produces, it's pretty quiet. Try standing next to a 500KW diesel generator.

lol... for me that was already obviously... i just didn't know why it happens.. now i know.
-
One thing I am forgetting is that the noise may be loud at times depending on the pitch of the blades.

I cant say I live near one nor have I been to a large one in a wind farm, Im on the production line (crane operator) From the videos and training we receive its said that they arent loud, I know Siemens and GE have their wind turbines too, I cant really speak for how much noise those put out.
I really don't get this ... are some people dense or something ??? Let's focus a little bit here shall we ??? Oil and coal : BAD !!! Wind turbine ? well not really the same thing is it ? ... I mean I'd love it if there would be a perfect solution to this problem but there isn't one yet ... so unless you moved back to the stone age I'd really like to urge you to start thinking about our options here (like most other people) and pick the compromise that's best suited for our future...

I used to cashier at an art supply store, Lots of granola crunchers. This lady bought some stuff and When I tried to put it in a bag she snapped at me about how "Plastic pollutes the environment". I just said "oh yeah, How did you get here?" She GRABBED her stuff and huffed out. I still smile today when I think of that day. Good timmes. :)
