This animation shows the evolution of the ozone hole above Antarctica for 2007, as measured daily by the SCIAMACHY satellite instrument. With a thinner ozone layer and a higher position of the sun in the sky more ultraviolet radiation will reach Earth's surface, as can be seen at the right hand side. More data and background information can be found on the TEMIS website: http://www.temis.nl/protocols/o3hole/

  • ozone = a highly reactive molecule compose of three oxygen atoms formed when lightning passes through air containing two oxygen's bound to each other. How many people have seen lightning flashes at the poles? it never rains. Only the children are dupped.

  • @datzfast ive noticed that people are people no matter what and what they are 'taught' while a child is what they will cling to. some have gone as far as to be belligerent in discussions about the red shift theory that was used to hypothesize the big bang. one look at the hubble deep field space picture should quell that but it doesnt, it goes against their branwashing.

  • scince has its gods like enstein or hawking no one dare cross thier teachings or they are bannished

  • @GregSidelnikov

try rohypnol. it has been scientifically proven. although, as you say, science is like religion, right?

  • @gratex Is intuition really good for dating?

  • @bweazel It's because sometimes science is a religion, too.

  • @kchomer1 Why? Try and answer this question for yourself. Why does the news ever start or stop talking about anything?

  • so why doesnt anyone in the news ever talk about the ozone layer anymore? i dont believe ive heard anything about its in 9 years.

  • Normally, the air has an ozone measurement of 300 Dobson Units. This is equivalent to a layer of ozone 3mm (.12 inches) thick over the entire earth. A good example is the height of two pennies stacked together. The ozone hole is more like the thickness of one dime or 220 Dobson Units! If the level of ozone drops below 220 Dobson Units, it is considered to be a part of the depleted area or hole.

  • I don't watch TV, so you can stop refering to Glenn Beck as my source for information.

Again. You send another reply of baseless claims. I think I was right. You've reached your peak of debate. Now unless you have something intellegent to say, stop replying to me.

Also. For the second time now, stop acting like there are not scientists that disagree with the tests done by those "bunch of scientists on the ground". It's obvious you watch entirely too much TV.
