excellent example of dividing attention... NOT

Hey Guys, just would like to thank you for putting this material 2gether ! Great stuff, very helpfull!
-
only 2 pylons? I suggest that...you must construct additional pylons

I don't see the point of this particular manoeuvre. Steep turns and spiral descents have a practical application in real life whereas these 'eights on pylons' just encourage the pilot to look in the wrong place during turns. Not only for collision avoidance but also for controlling the aeroplane.

Worthless RES. epic fail. will seek this topic elsewhere...........Goodbye

Common Errors - "Over concentration on the pylon and failure to observe traffic" FAA-H-8083-3A

Consider this verbage for staying on the pylon. If the pylon moves aft, so does the stick, if the pylon moves forward, so does the stick. Also I would make the pitch corrections 12 oclock as there can only be a small pitch variance. This allows for more better pitch control and clearing. I notice that the pilot in this video never looks for traffic while focused on the pylon. This maneuver is the number one offender for this deficiency.

Interesting...I know the PTS and flying handbook dont say anything against using TIME to determine proper distance, but at Riddle you can't! You have to eyeball it and use judgement. When I originally learned I used time, but now the standard here is NO time.
