Tom Mic Test in 6/8 (more wanking...)

I got some new mics in the studio specifically for micing my toms (CAD M179 for those interested in such minutiae) and thought I'd give 'em the full video test, too. One more excuse to practice the video editing.

Another addition on display here is a '96 Ludwig birch snare (8-lug); I'm generally not a big fan of wood snares, but this is kinda great!

@musikkidd Mostly Istanbul Alchemy except for one China and the ride which are Istanbul  Traditional series.

@iamhaydenwilliams I mix up my hihat mics depending on the sound I'm looking for. Sometimes it's a 57, sometimes an SM7, but it could also be an SM81, old Neumann KM84, AT4050, or even nothing and I'll just rely on the overheads.

Hey there, another great vid. Noticed you seem to have a thing for dynamics on the hihat. Can't see that we'll but looks like a 57 and saw an sm7 in another vid. I guess the 451s pick them up quite well in OH position anyways huh? Or do ya like the sound? I can never get an SM7 to sound decent on the hats... Never gets any sparkle!

I enjoy the sound of felt beater double kicks, rare to see in application. The classic sound of coated heads and your beaters make for an aggresive/unique setup.
