  • those kicks sound like hell

  • @DestroyerAlexandros i didnt say it was an entirely different sport but for someone like peter aerts for example it is.

its really strange for a kickboxer's first time in the cage, u knock someone down u kinda wait for them to get up cuz ur not that familiar with the rules or when someone clinchs u dont understand why the reff doesnt "break".

u need to spend time getting used to it and the rules, some just dont have the love for the sport to do it cuz they just dont like it (badr hari)

  • @AintDoneYet123 It's definitely not easy. Overeem said 2 years with a solid training camp are needed to prepare a world-class kickboxer for the ground game. Anyway, it's not an entirely different sport. It's still a combative sport it's not like they're transitioning from golf to soccer.

  • @DestroyerAlexandros if he has that kind of mind set about needing money then he will most likely try boxing before mma, cro cop for example went to mma for the money cuz k1 wasnt paying enough so maybe others will too but i doubt it, and some of them have been competing in kickboxing their whole life a and dont like mma that much (a good example is badr hari), dont get me wrong i would love to c them in mma but its whole other sport and transitioning into it from kickboxing is not that easy

  • @AintDoneYet123 Not the only one, but the one that paid best. It's Showtime is good too, but it's too inconsistent. Think about it, a guy like Tyrone Spong can spend a year training purely grappling/purely hands and transition to MMA/boxing and make a few million $ in the next 2 years or he could compete in Muay Thai and WKA for a couple of thousand a fight. Which one would you choose?

  • @DestroyerAlexandros the kickboxers wont automatically become mma fighters they will just continue their careers in kickboxing, k1 is not the only kickboxing organization you know

  • @fuckingkimura Is he going in MMA or in boxing? Anyway, there will be an influx of great strikers in MMA due to the collapse of K-1. The fanboys are gonna declare kickboxing the "most effective style" next :D

  • I thought it were a draw, but a great damn fight regardless :)

Spong is a beast, can't wait to see him in MMA, gonna whoop some arse

  • I heard that after training w/ Rashad Evans, Spong is thinking about trying his hand in some low level MMA circuits. Before you laugh, Spong (along with Badr Hari) have both been doing Jiu-Jitsu since 2000 & Rashad says Spong could effortlessly make the transition if he tried.

There are some kickboxers, (Bonjasky Aerts) who dont have a good style for MMA b/c their slow tacticians, then theirs other kickboxers, (Saki & Spong) who are athletic & have an excellent style of Kickboxing for MMA

  • lebanner is too old now but he is a legend
