PART 3 OF 8
"Other: Voices of Asian Prisoners"
Saturday, Sept. 27th, 2008
Critical Resistance Conference in Oakland, California
Panel workshop featuring Rico Riemedio, German Yambao, and Eddy Zheng. They discuss changes that have occurred in the Asian prison population over the past 20 years, concerns and struggles particular to Asian prisoners, and how Asian prisoners build community and resistance inside the Prison Industrial Complex. Organized by the Asian Prisoner Support Committee (APSC).
APSC works with Asian prisoners to educate the broader community about the growing number of Asians in the U.S. being imprisoned, detained, and deported. We seek to expose the root causes of why more and more Asians are going to prison, such as the crisis of our educational system, the lack of access to resources for low-income immigrants, and war and imperialism.
We are an all-volunteer committee comprised of former prisoners and Asian community members based in the bay area. We work primarily with Asian prisoners at Solano State Prison (Vacaville). For more info about APSC - apscinfo@gmail.com and myspace.com/asianprisoners

LET'S DO THE MATHS
2.3million prisoners in the USA
Each prisoners will cost the USA Govt USD$40,000p/a
So, therefore: 2.3m x $40,000=$92,000,000,000p/a
So, it will cost the USA Govt $92,000,000,000 per annum to keep those prisoners.
Therefore, the 74years total that the 3 prisoners have serve has cost the USA Govt. a total of $8,880,000. In addition by keeping those 3 prisoners for an additional total of 40 years, they made an extra USD$4,800,000. NO WONDER THEY KEEP THEM LONGER. GOOD BUSINESS
