  • I love the choir but for some reason the female soloist irritates me.

  • @MoaiMaea Really? Anne Sophie is great for me. But Sylvia MacNair, the soprano who appears after in this recording, is the best of all solists. An angelical voice.

I don't like very much the bass and tenor here because they sing in a too much operistic way, with too much vibrato in the voice for sacral music. In my opinion , of course.

  • Handel. Inventor of the oratorio. :) Beautiful work, what is the name of the choir?

  • Academy and Chorus of St Martin in the Fields

  • I bought the CD of this arrangement about 12 years ago. Without a doubt it's the best arrangement of Messiah I've ever heard. This video is great, but WHY WHY WHY did you leave out the ouverture?????

  • Well, because I wanted to do that. :o)

I didn`t to want to upload the entire Messias, so, some parts had to be cut off.

  • Handel wrote the Messiah after overcoming a terminal illness. Once recovered he faced a worst disease, his talent of composing was disappeared. That was worst than carnal death for him. One day, he recieved a friend´s letter asking him for giving life to the words. At first he felt humiliated because of his composing impotence. He started reading....joy...rejoice..the halleluja....he spent the whole night awake looking for,as we see in the video, the best way of giving us this words.

  • I definitely adore Handel.

He makes me feel so peaceful.

Sword is sign of law & order, it has been prophesied Messiah will be associated with sword. Mullah Omar the spiritual leader of Taliban in Afghanistan is Antichrist. click Justice party UK.

  • ich liebe diese Musik-I love it

  • wonderful music

  • von Otter shines like none other! Impeccable intonation, perfect pitch, unaffected sincerity - fabulous ! Sophie is the star here, along with the chorus. I could never warm to McNair's voice, it sounds so contrived and slight. But the impassioned von Otter makes this all-too-familiar masterwork sound fresh again. Bravo, von Otter!

  • @lrbaseball15

You should hear the recording by The Robert Shaw Chorale, it is absolutely flawless

  • @AirKingOne Handel didn't and will never need a standing king to know that He is great ,Since He's the greatest composer whoever lived and will always be.

Actually He is Greater than what this world deserves.

  • Angelic Music by Handel the greatest composer whoever lived.

Every single tone has its own magical effect into the soul

I just wonder How He could make such an effect with the simplest possible way.

Is it some sort of a magic or what ?

  • I guess 4 people are Jewish

  • Such beauty and grace, truly great work.
