Here we can see what difference does the spark have if we just attach a capacitor in parallel the spark plug. The spark gets more powerful. And then I just use a different spark plug with cut off ground electrode, this way the spark has nowhere to go except the ground all around the thread ring. Lots of plasma :)
I am using a variac and a 12kV30mA neon sign transformer for this. The variac is set so that the output of the NST is about 5kV, just like in engine induction coil.
Thanks

  • hey Jetijs, adam ant---

have you tried to install some caps on your car spark plugs? much cheeper than using a fancy MSD or Jacobs ignition system..

  • Hi adam ant :)

I tried to add the capacitors to my diesel generator once, but it did not start. You see, each induction coil can output only so much power and if your capacitors are too big, all the power will get into them and not reach the voltage required for the spark to jump. So you must carefully adjust the capacity so that each power pulse can fill them fully before discharge.

  • The cap acts basically as a buffer of some kind, it stores all the energy the coil produces and then releases it in a much shorter but powerful pulse.

  • Those are 4000V 0.001 uF capacitors. You have to adjust the capacity for max performace and it depends of the volts and amps that your power supply/ignition coil puts out. If the capacity will be too big, then no spark will appear if using AC and only every second or third spark will appear if DC is used. If the capacity is too small, you will get only minor improvement. You need to select the capacity so that the cap can fully charge and discharge on each impulse, just like in a Tesla coil.

  • OH DAMB ! I PEED MYSELF ! If I could have had spark like that all these years in my old hotrod cars, OH THE THINGS I WOULD HAVE DONE !!!

FUNNY I'VE SEEN A LOT OF DIESEL ENGINES BUT NEVER ONE WITH SPARKPLUGS???

see all

  • @Jetijs hi buddy, what kind are these capacitors, can you give me the especifications? thanks and how can choose the rigth capacitor for coil of 35.000 v, aprecciate if you can help.

  • @Jetijs

i want to do some mods with my Civic and Ls 400, both are distributor model. and i guess coils is providing around 40Kv.... i need the exact value of capaictor to do mod....

    Thanx....

  • well, what if the spark grounds out on the head?? the spark plug could be kinda welded to the head right?

  • So how does this affect the car? I would assume the 2nd spark plug w the plasma would ignite the fuel quicker - or at the other extreme -causing premature ignition (pinging)? Just guesses.

  • Holy Shit!!!!

I have being serching webs to find it!!! Its like Stan Mayer Firestorm Spark Plug!

You gave me some nice idea!

I would like to buy Pylstar Spark Plugs (with internal capacitor) and F-16 Pulse King to get no missfires!!!?? And also gonna put heater for fuel and HHo I am installijng ;]

    Big Thanks Pal! lol!

  • now just spray something flamable on it.

  • What is your opinion with regard on the brand Nology spark plug wires...this has the capacitor built in within the wire itself. Was wondering if the spark kernal is lid up as brightly as you have on this video? And what potential advantages can this give on the Honda VTEC motors. Please forward your comments as time permits. Thank you very much!

  • nice focus... we see clearly the wall behind the table.

  • neon light transformer. that's cheating, they are very very powerful and dangerous, read side label ! to do a proper test, is to use a real igntion off your car then compare the spark ith each plug. the put the spark plug under pressure. many wide gap plugs fail at high pressure. by the way the caps are tuned to the coil. it forms a TANK circuit and is TUNED. This is what dictates duration of spark. each induction coil needs a perfect sized cap. basic LC circuit engineering. wiki it.
