No need to compare him to Coltrane or Ayler, although I suppose calling him the greatest Free Jazz saxophonist WILL raise such questions as "WELL ISNT AYLER WAY BETTER?"
Either way, a lot closer to Ayler in sound than Coltrane (abrasive n beautiful, unlike Coltrane who was much free-flowing in his chaos), but in terms of what he expresses, he's far different. Ayler n Coltrane usually went for a sort of spirituality on a greater level, but Abe's is a lot more personal than far-reaching. Lovely.

this isn't even that difficult I mean it's amazing playing if that's all you think about it's totally easy to listen to and enjoy . . . it's not like the whole piece is him just blowing as hard and loud as he can he is playing plenty of fantastic music here.
