me singing Rejoice Greatly O Daughter of Zion from Handel's Messiah.... my Dad took the video with a digital camera, please forgive the run near the beginning, my mind went blank and i messed up and made up some notes...and some of it is slightly under pitch, however upon viewing a recording done NOT on our digital camera, it sounded more on pitch than here, but the middle section (he is the righteous saviour...) i did sing a bit flat though, Chan Centre, UBC, April 2007.

  • You have a great voice... It's a shame you were rushed !

  • Beautiful. Congradulations.

Now it's my turn to sing it for our final classical music concert !!

  • Beautiful voice. Pianist was obviously trying to beat the 4 minute mile! I felt sorry for the soloist.

  • Just listened to this for the first time today. I agree that it has been taken at quite a lick! I don't think it's the soloists fault, it seems the pianist started off incredibly quickly and eventually slowed down to accommodate her. but she has a fabulous voice.

  • Don't be!Sing naturally!Don't search a certain sound, know your own natural sound. You don't have to sound a certain way, you have to sound like yourself and enjoy singing. If you find your own voice, singing will come out... you won't have to think of anything but the music, not of how you sound, not where your voice should be placed or things like that. :D

  • Point well taken... I'm just a bit too traditional for my own good.

  • Wonderful voice and a good breath control!Natural sound...it's beautiful, keep it this way!You may want to tell your pianist not to hit the keys like you're singing Lady Macbeth, though. He's killing you! This is Handel that volume is not only unncessary but also disturbing.Good luck to you!

  • Don't change the natural sound of words just for the sake of round vowls.Plus, I'd say a run on sounds like "a" or "i" is far easier than on "o" let's say. I am a stundent too :D. Not a coloratura, but even as a dramatic I have my fair share of coloraturas...

  • That was amazing! I'm just learning this area myself and I have to say I'm so intimidated by these runs. How do you just spit them out so eloquently? I did "with verdure clad" for my college audition and I effed up one of the runs. Man they are just so hard!

anyway, brilliant. How old are you? I'm just going to college this year.
