This is a clip of David Strathairn's monologue in the US TV series "The Equalizer", from 1988, with Edward Woodward.

The clip is taken from episode 2 of Season 4; "Sea of Fire", first broadcast on 2 November 1988.

McCall (Woodward) is trying to educate some high school kids that have drifted into a gang, and takes them to visit Srathairn's character who used to be an assassin (good education).

Of interest, and according to Wikipedia, this monologue from Strathairn spawned a Canadian series called "Matrix".

  • A great clip that provokes introspection.

  • Man, this clip should chill anyone's blood.

  • It is a very compelling picture of hell. Even if it occurred only in his unconscious and was not a literal place that evildoers go to, we can surmise that the way of violence does not pay off, that we must begin to approach this existence with humility and greater reverence for life and compassion for others. One does not have to adopt explicitly religious ideologies to accept this as essentially true. Moral lessons about life and death can come to us in many ways: through dreams, reflections.

  • and this actor still didn't get an Oscar...what's wrong with people thase days?

  • Great scene. It wouldn't fly in today's atmosphere though, because these days everyone is afraid to talk about religion.

  • I've never forgotten this episode, or especially this scene. Thank you for posting it!

  • A powerful clip!

  • Amazing! Perfect. OMG!

  • Gee.... I really miss that old show. It was one of my favorites!!!
