A hunter throws a poison dart at a monkey in a tree. The instant the dart is fired, the monkey lets go of the branch he is hanging from.
Will the dart hit the monkey?
Yes. Both the monkey and the dart are subject to gravity which accelerates all objects towards the ground at 9.8m/s/s. So long as the hunter has aimed directly at the monkey to start with, the dart will always hit the monkey.
