We used this video as part of our training for traveling around Afghansitan. They told us there were no injuries but I just found out Jason Lucas lost his life that day. So RIP Jason, know that you will never be forgotten.

The day before I had asked Lucas if he wanted me to put one of the cherries in the gun to give him a chance to rest, he said, "SGT, I really wished you wouldn't, if anything happened to one of them in my place, I'd never forgive myself. They are younger, and I already have two boys to carry on my family name if something happens. Besides, it's boring in the trucks, I might as well take it all in so I can tell my family about it" He talked me into letting him stay in the gun.

I was in this convoy, this video haunts me every night, My best soldier was in the turret of the truck that this was filmed in, he did die. This was Kandahar, Friday 13, 2006, 930 am we had left KAF in a convoy, this was about 30 min into it. The best soldier I ever met took the blast directly to his front, CPL Jason Allen Lucas, 1st PLT, 2-30 IN BN, this was all Col. Williams' fault, he let them know when and where we were coming a day ahead of time!

@jubinizzle If you look at the video you can see that he was parked on the side of the street. He pulled out without anyone knowing. In a convoy op you have the gunners in a staggering position 1st forward 2nd left 3rd right and so on and so forth. the gunner could be positioned to the left. This is an unfortunate event.

My Question, why the fuck didn't the gunners take this fucker out? ROE/EOF says that any body cutting into a convoy like that gets wasted in a heartbeat.
