50CalibreBullet --- brother, to say the Band would have been nothing without Rickey and Levon is well, silly.
Helm is my fav drummer/singer/songwriter of all time as well -- but Richard was the principle singer of The Band --- read This Wheel's on Fire. Garth was the best musician anyone in The Band ever knew. They were the sum of all parts -- not just one or two.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TELL ME WHERE I CAN EITHER FIND THE STUDIO VERSION OF THIS OR THIS VERSION on CD? I looked on every studio album and it doesn't appear to be on any of them. someone please respond and help me.
I was there that night ( if this was the new years eve 12-31-71 performance.) To this day probably the best concert I`ve ever seen...I remember Dylan showing up although the Southern Comfort was slightly impairing my brain that night..

Respectfully --- a bigtime Band lover
MY BIGGEST MISTAKE WAS LOVIN' YOU TOO MUCH!
This version sounds quite similar to the one found on the Rock of Ages live album from '72, although I have not checked.
The studio version I have is off of their 3rd album Cahoots from '71.
Thats what I have it on.
