You gotta be quick on your feet,
When you're crossing the street,
You gotta be quick with your wits,
Or you might get hit,

The drivers are in such a hurry,
Trying to reach their destination,
The drivers are in such a worry,
Trying to make their connections,

When it says walk, you better run,
Because it will say don't walk soon,
But before you run you better look both ways,
Because those drivers may not be looking for you,

And that is why...
You gotta be quick on your feet,
When you're crossing the street,
You gotta be quick with your wits,
Or you might get hit,

They yell, "What the hell are you doing?"
When they're the ones who don't have a clue,
They honk if you don't keep on moving,
And barge their way on through.

Most drivers are actually pretty nice,
They stop and they wave you across,
But one too many they just don't think twice,
About racing you through the cross walk.
