02/08/08 Handfeeding 3 Gouldian Finches

http://www.nitasnest.homestead.com These three kids are about 2 1/2 weeks old. Parents fed them well for the first week, then began to slack off to the point where I had to step in. They were still giving them the occasional feeding, so I left them where they were and just fed every 90 minutes or so. Now at this age, parents are rarely feeding but kids are doing quite well on handfeedings.

i have a question, can you breed a gouldian with a canary, or other birds?

I don't know of other birds that would hybridize with gouldians, but why would you want to??

Hi. I have 2 baby gouldian to and I don't know the handfeeding formula materials that I must use. please help...

I use any commercial handfeeding formula. Kaytee, Roudybush, Zupreem... there are many to choose from now. Keep it on the loose side. If the baby is big enough, you can use a small eyedropper to feed it. Otherwise you can use anything you can deliver a tiny amount of formula with. I've made feeding implements out of flat plastic before.

I use regular commercial handfeeding formula, just make it really liquid and loose.

ive seen an african lovebird mating an albino cockatail, bt havent seen their results.. bt they get along well with each other.. jst try to mix match.. they probably be ok..

hi i have birds here bt no gouldians, some of them are being handfed by me i jst simple use cerelac, its a baby food here in the philippines, and ddnt try any other formula for birds, they like it and i hve no problem feeding them,..

if u have problems finding good food for ur handfed birds, baby food can be a good substitute....

Gouldians as beautiful as they are in captivity are horrible parents
