Nike has skillfully crafted its ads to feature the entrancing Hero archetype, but it has amplified their power by making the story very personal. They have put both the hero and the villain right in our own heads. Nike scores a home run by dancing with the split personality that lives within all of us - the healthy you versus the lazy you; and most of us HATE that lazy guy. We do battle with him all day long, like when the waitress asks us if we want fries or the side salad with our lunch.
