  • I have been researching book printing as well. One of the differences between Lightning Source and Lulu that you might be interested in is the wholesaling of your book to major bookstores. Lightning Source works with Ingram one of the major book wholesalers, where as many of the self publishing companies are not accepted by the wholesalers. You may what to check to see where Lulu stands with this.

  • @Downdogpress this was dated October 2008, I have now been with Lightning for over a year and very happy with it :) see my more recent videos for my later progress... but yes you are absolutely right, Lulu is still self-publishing whichever way you look at it. Was a good start, but one must move on from there.

  • Just a reminder that this video dates to 2008 and I have since set up my publishing company with Lightning Source. I agree that it is the best way and the only truly viable one for business.

  • lulu is now free, I just made a book for 7 dollars. I don't know if they charge more to put you on amazon but it would be worth 500

  • Yes John I have been hearing about that. I'm not sure if they are doing it for all books now or still trialling it with the most successful titles. Certainly makes sense since it will increase their business.

  • lightning source is the printer for most POD companies. You can start your own publishing company and set up with them directly and cut out the middle man.

I have self-piublished two books and now I am doing my own thing through lightning source. And they put you on amazon for 12 bucks a year.

  • lulu is good and easy but I heard alot of people got ruined. I meant is lulu stole their work. I"m a lulu member too coz I'm thinking about it but now I don't know.

  • i paid 6 bucks a copy

5 copies delivered in a week by priority mail for 40 bucks, who deos it cheaper?

  • Yes, lulu prices have gone up quite a bit lately, that's true. It's only really useful for a single proof copy.

  • free to set-up, but what about getting a few copies to hand out? $10 a pop is not good...

  • Thanks for the video................I totally appreciate it. Is it a good business in writing books. I am looking at feed back about different publishers.
