The band formed in Béziers, France, in 1991. At the end of the same year, they decided to drive up north to Rennes, a French city known for its rock scene, where they slowly spun their web. Right after the release of the EP Fuse, they started to play in bigger venues like l'Ubu in Rennes and other important clubs. They rapidly got off the ground and they chose to work with Steve Albini for their coming album, Plug. John Peel noticed them at that time and invited them to his radio show. The same year, while playing opening for Brick Layer Cake and Shellac, they were seen on stage by PJ Harvey, who wanted them to tour with her. In 1996, Sloy came back with a second album, Planet of Tubes. This time, the popular media started to notice them; they were seen on TV and in national magazines. For the first time, a French indie rock band is on their way to being recognized by a large fringe. But, finally, they never got the recognition the could have had, even with the musical change that occurred in the last album, Electrelite. The alchemy did not work: the fans were deceived by it and it was still too hard to listen for the neophytes. Despite a big tour, it smelled like the end of the band. La bande a formé dans Béziers, France, en 1991. A la fin du même an, ils ont décidé de conduire sur le nord à Rennes, une ville française connue pour sa scène de rocher, où ils ont tourné lentement leur toile. La droite après le relâchement du Fusible d'EP, ils ont commencé à jouer dans les plus grands lieux comme l'Ubu dans Rennes et autres clubs importants. Ils ont obtenu rapidement du sol et ils ont choisi de travailler avec Steve Albini pour leur prochain album, leur Bouchon. La Peau de John les a remarqués et les a invités à ce moment-là à son spectacle de radio. Le même an, pendant que jouer ouvrant pour le Gâteau de Couche de Brique et la Gomme-laque, ils ont été vus sur l'étape par PJ Harvey, qui les a voulu visiter avec elle. Dans 1996, Sloy est revenu avec un deuxième album, une Planète de Tubes. Cette fois, les médias populaires les ont commencés à remarquer ; ils ont été vus à la télé et dans les revues nationales. Pour la première fois, une bande de rocher d'indépendant française est sur leur façon être reconnu par une grande frange. Mais, enfin, ils n'ont jamais obtenu la reconnaissance l'aurait pu avoir, même avec le changement musical qui est arrivé dans le dernier album, Electrelite. L'alchimie n'a pas travaillé : les ventilateurs ont été trompés par lui et c'était toujours trop dur pour écouter pour les néophytes. Malgré une grande tournée, il a senti comme la fin de la bande.
