@DerrickHair Indeed, Hearns had a combination which no one really figured out. But if you could figure out how to survive beyond the third round, that arm of Hearns became ineffective. Duran fought like a dumbass in this fight. He was a real clown. A duffass. Hearns on the other hand was a scrawny assed punk.

@MisterNifty What are you talking about....All of those fights were TKO's or KO's...all except Griffin vs Shogun. hearns was great. That knockout is one of the most Famos knockouts in Boxing History. Every one Feared the right hand of Hearns

@muhideen Yet, as devastating as that punch might have seemed, notice how quickly Duran recovered from it. In my opinion, Thomas Hearns wasn't that great while boxing is pretentious. The MMA is just more realistic. Note how Forrest Grffin submitted Shogun, Rashad Evans submitted Forrest Griffin, Machita submits Rashad Evans, and, to complete the circle, Shogun submitted Machita. If you ain't getting your ass knocked out, then you are hiding pretending to be a fighter in boxing.

I watched this live with my dad back in the day. The punch that poleaxed Duran was, and still is, one of the most devastating I've ever seen.

What made this so impressive is that Duran had never been knocked before in over 80 fights.

@lovembig41 It was definitely a fun era. I remember back then that the NFL went on strike and I said so what we have plenty of good boxing to watch right now.

There were a lot of tough guys back in those days especially in the lower divisions.
