Sadly today Balby is full of Deadbeat lowlifes Drunken little boys and girls pushing baby's around when they should be still at school, Drug dealers, Dossers and nobody gives a shit anymore If the people in the war realised they were fighting for this i am sure they would have surrended themselves - R.I.P Balby the generation of today have killed a once great place to live.

very true, sadly pretty much the same everywhere now, im sure balby was a much better place back then, i bet they would think twice about filming there these days

The shop has always been a hairdressers. When the programme was in production, the producers paid the owner for use of the (exterior)of the shop for filming, and just dressed it to look like a grocer's store. The interior shots were filmed in a studio, and it was all edited after filming to make it look continuous.
