Meaning of Zodiac Signs. Randall Niles looks at the ancient stories told in the stars. This isn't astrology or astrology readings -- This is what the Hebrews called, the Mazzaroth -- Ancient meanings found in the names of the constellations.

He is the Maker of the Bear and Orion, the Pleiades and the constellations of the south. He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. (Job 9:9-10)

When we view the cluster of stars known as Ursa Major (the Big Dipper), do we really see a Bear and her cubs? What about the three aligned stars that mark the constellation of Orion? Do we really see the belt of a hunter? Of course not. So, where did these names come from anyway?

When our ancient ancestors called the constellations by name, it wasnt based on pictures they saw in a cluster of stars. Rather, the heavenly bodies were viewed as awesome signs from God, and those signs each came with an underlying story. Each story was given a name and an associated picture, so that the entire message of the signs (the zodiac) could be passed along from generation to generation.

The Hebrew name for the zodiac is the Mazzaroth. Amazingly, when read together, is it possible that the twelve constellations in the Mazzaroth tell a fascinating story of Gods plan for mankinds redemption?

1. Virgo The virgin holding a branch and an ear of corn; the promised seed of the woman.
2. Libra The scales; the price deficient balanced by the price that covers.
3. Scorpio The scorpion; the attack of the enemy; the redeemers conflict.
4. Sagittarius The archer; the gracious one; the redeemers triumph.
5. Capricornus The sea goat; the goat of atonement slain for the redeemed.
6. Aquarius The water bearer; the living waters of blessing poured forth for the redeemed.
7. Pisces The fishes; the multitudes who will follow; the blessings of the redeemed.
8. Aries The ram or lamb; wounded and slain, the blessings of the redeemed consummated.
9. Taurus The bull; the congregation of the judge; the coming judge of all the earth.
10. Gemini The twins; two natures; the reign of the prince of peace.
11. Cancer The crab; assembled together; the redeemers possessions held fast.
12. Leo The Lion of the tribe of Judah; the consummated triumph of the redeemer in the end.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not endorsing astrology here. I'm not granting these signs any power over our lives, choices, or futures. However, when I do a biblical study from Virgo to Leo, I discover some remarkable things. For instance, Virgo represents the foretold virgin (Isaiah 7:14) holding a branch (Jeremiah 23:5-6) and an ear of corn, which represents the promised seed of the woman (beginning with Eve at the Fall in Genesis 3:15).

And if I continue my word study through the Bible, I discover Leo, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Redeemer who is triumphant in the end!

Then one of the elders said to me, "Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed." (Revelation 5:5)

Some scholars see a clear presentation of the Christian gospel in the ancient zodiac. Others think the ancient meanings have been stretched a bit. Regardless, the Mazzaroth is a fascinating study...

  • The bible is a book of astrology, that's why it matches it so well.

    Sun of god, not son.

You're right, lots of people worship stars, lol

  • I had to come revisit this one. I have just discovered David Flynn. He teaches some real heavy stuff based on the procession and the ubiquitous 2012.

It's obvious the God wound up this clock that we call the heavens.

    Awesome, awesome, awesome Creator God.

  • Man made gods in his image -- using the sun, moon, and stars.

  • I had a dream about the duality of man and the word Mazzaroth came to me. I had ne idea what it mean I swear but i Wrote a song the next day for my heavy metel band called Mazaroth and listen to what it says . lyics posted.

  • I can't possibly convey how short sighted this comment is. I understand how one could see them as ambiguous, but for someone with an enterprising mind, that ambiguity isn't so indiscernable. "non unique and not definite"? Well uh, lol ok. Sounds uninformed to me. Sounds like you are definitely non unique; some people call them "Trolls".

  • "Do a profound study on ambiguous things of non unique and not definite precedence and find a link to meanings I want you to see"
