The Lonely Planet travel guide has added Glasgow to its top ten list of 'cities worth a visit'. That puts the Scottish metropolis up in the same league with places like Shanghai,Chicago and Zurich. Although the city has its fair share of great bars, good food and lively fashion, not many tourists make it to Glasgow's suburbs. There, the life expectancy for the average male is just 54,even less than in Iraq or Eritrea. High unemployment, alcohol, and a diabetes rate twice that of the rest of Scotland take their toll -- along with violent crime.
this didnt show the many prosperous parts of glasgow

So there plan is to make it a tourist magnet? A tourist economy is great, but it has its problems. The quick and easy way out is to build something and give jobs, but what happens when your finished building? Its only temporary, its not a long-term plan. This is just pathetic, If I worked for two years in construction, then what am I supposed to do? If there is nothing BUT job opportunities in the construction industry? I'm not sure about this...
