Wow Contador looked so fluid and smooth while the others had the signs of strain once the pace picked up. He just makes it look so easy!

I am sorry that people have resorted to personal and hateful attacks. Did Contador dope? None of us, except Contador, know all the facts. Riders are uneducated, their whole life wrapped up in the need to succeed- under pressure to win at all costs... & they are only human. Lighten up a little. Root for your favorites and applaud all (hopefully) clean winners.

With smooth and fluid they don't mean that he's riding the same tempo. That's more Basso's territory. A lot of people just like the way he pedals as it is indeed a very beautiful style to a lot of people.

@soulripper31 I'm not denigrating Contador one bit, he's the best grand tour rider of his generation, but his style is explosive and bouncy (i.e. he continually accelerates and decelerates much like Iban Mayo). My response was to the reference of "fluid and smooth", which is characteristic of the styles of Coppi, Anquetil, Ullrich, Leipheimer etc. With that said, I've heard commentators call Contador's effort "Bellissima" but not his style. Would be curious to know those names if you have them.

I think you have never watched cycling in your life outside July on Versus. Contador easily has the most beautiful climbing style of the climbers. A lot of cycling commentators have used words like that to describe his climbing style. So go be a douche somewhere else.

@oldtwins I think that's the first time "fluid and smooth" has ever been used to describe Contador. His style is more aptly "jerky".
