I don't advocate trying to deconvert theists. However, when I was a fundamentalist, I converted others to validate my untenable beliefs to myself. I offer this guide as a redress of grievances.

Rule #1: know yourself. Know what values you place the most importance in. Know your strengths and weaknesses. Most importantly, know your motivations. Are you doing this from a genuine concern for others, or just for bragging rights?

Rule #2 know your mark. What is their theology? What values are most important to them? What are their strengths and weaknesses? What characteristics of yours will they see as strengths or weaknesses? Most importantly, are they happy and compassionate in their religion? We want to diffuse the hate and authoritarianism, not just score points for "our side".

Rule #3 know your mark's theology. Know their holy book better than they do. Know the nuances of their specific theology better than they do. You want to be the one throwing the curve balls.

Coming in part 2 :
Know YOUR shit.
Be respectful
Consider alternatives

  • nice dreds. Did you do them yourself?

  • @SaelPalani Wifey does the major maintenance

  • You know what should work? Telling someone they believe ridiculous nonsense, why its ridiculous with an exphasis on common sense and how the real world works and whats in it, and bam. Unfortunately, there are main obstacles in the way of that working. People are (seemingly by nature) dumb and gullible, me being no exception, I just had to realize I'm dumb and gullible to overcome.

  • @HowDaWorldTwerks Hehe yeah if only it were that easy. This is intended to lay the groundwork for side-stepping some of those obstacles, hopefully.

  • Great video, great tips.

  • @shreddakj Glad you enjoyed. I will re-record, and likely condense parts into a cleaner video when I have Internet at the house.

  • Great Job. I agree 100%...You must be able to represent yourself as someone who has thought about this in depth, not as a rebellious baby eater.

    Do more in this series.

  • Sound advice!
