Gas Station Ghost Analysis

I did see that on "Monster Quest" they did an episode on ghosts and went to this gas station and demonstrated conclusively that the exact camera used here DOES indeed turn things blue if they're close to the camera lens.

A bug walking on the lens would appear as a shadow, not take on the color of the wall. The only reason the object you held up looked blue was because it was white and your light was pointing directly at it against a dark background. The hood and the angle of the camera at the station, makes it unlikely a bug would reflect the wall color. It's not a ghost, sure, but you didn't come close to replicating it either.

If you look at the shots of the reporter while she's standing outside where the "ghost" appeared, her suit turns blue. When she comes back inside, the suit turns red. The camera is either picking up the blue color from the wall, or it has a problem with color shifting some of the objects it photographs.

Sure, objects would be affected by light reflecting off the wall, but they aren't directly against the lens. But there's a shield over the lens so the bug is not directly against it It seems to me that this would be easy to replicate, if it is a bug.. which it probably is. Catch a fly or moth, find a similar camera and place it against the lens to see if captures reflected light. But I think, unless the conditions are just right, you'd get a blurry shadow.

If anyone is still interested in this next Spring I will try again. The frost here seems to have sent all my moths and insects packing... Or if I should happen to catch a silverfish, that would be a good one too. But I was using a clear observation case to film my insect footage, not letting the critter walk on the lens.

It probably is something unbelievably, boringly, obvious once its solved. Just like a magicians trick is when explained.

Ah, but it is a bug, its just so many people grasp at anything the deem paranormal and not let go. Not only is it a bug, buts its a small tiny moth, you can see a few of em at night if you simply live a light on for them to crawl on. When you think bug, I bet your thinking of a common house fly, or something like that, but its a small little thing. I am a strong believer in the paranormal, and it pains me to see people accept such obvious as "truth"

i respect your opinion as to what this "ghost" may be. however, i noticed something in the video which may disprove your insect theory. if you look at the "ghost" throughout the course of the video, you would notice that it changes shape, something that cannot be a result of reflecting light, lens glare, or lack of focus. in other words, can an insect change shape like that? most likely not.
