Quartet of Flowering Genes

Flowering is controlled by four MADS-box transcriptional factors according to the quartet model. Successive replacements of four proteins determine the identity of four developmental fields termed "whorls", sepal, petal, stamen and carpel. Music is made from the sequences of the MADS-box proteins of Arabidopsis.
