Brad Marchand's low hit on Sami Salo and Mason Raymond's low hit on Brad Marchand side by side. Referee Dan O'Rourke was involved in both of these games.

Statement from Bruins General Manager regarding Suspension to Brad Marchand

"While we respect the process that the Department of Player Safety took to reach their decision regarding Brad's hit on Sami Salo, we are very disappointed by their ruling.

"While we understand that the Department of Safety is an evolving entity, it is frustrating that there are clear comparable situations that have not been penalized or sanctioned in the past.

"It is equally disappointing that Brad sought the counsel of the Department this past Fall for an explanation and clarification regarding this type of scenario so as to adjust his game if necessary. He was advised that such an incident was not sanctionable if he was protecting his own safety. Given our feeling that Brad was indeed protecting himself and certainly did not clip the player as he contacted the player nowhere near the knee or quadricep, today's ruling is not consistent with what the Department of Player Safety communicated to Brad."

  • There is a difference between Marchand and Raymond.

Marchand is a piece of shit, just like the rest of his team, while Raymond on the other is isn't a piece of shit.

  • You put up a decent argument, but it's obvious that Marchand made no intent to play the puck when he layed a dirty hit on Salo. (and its Sami Salo for fucks sake, the guy wouldn't hurt a fly). Also, when Raymond played the puck into the zone and Marchand charged at him AFTER the puck had left Raymonds stick, Raymond actually made hip to hip contact. THAT is protecting yourself. Not intentionally missing the puck and taking out a guy at his knees.

  • holy shit! is this even arguable? raymond had the puck and shortly after dumping it in marchand charges at him! raymond was trying to get out of the way! and salo as everyone says would never ever hurt anyone or anything!

  • @MadManMaloney My ruling is that it should of been at least a interference call on Marchand, possibly extra time had Salo gotten injuried. (if he did or not IDR)

  • I'm a Bruins fan, and to me, both shots come from two player who were not in puck possesion. Raymond although did give up possesion and protected, while Marchand never did touch the puck, nor did Salo. Yet, knowing something is gonna happen, it looks like Salo is protecting and one could make the assumption Marchand is protecting as well, leading to the hit. At 6 sec in, they both look like 2 hip checks, yet when you take into the fact that Marchand nor Salo didn't have the puck, its a dirty hit

  • wasnt going for a check****

  • its pretty clear that raymond was going for a check, he was trying to avoid it and i dont think he wanted any contact he was just trying avoid marchand. marchand is a fuckin dirty piece of shit. tweenster.ca spread the word

  • @FunHockeyVideos Raymond is a pussy just like the rest of his team nooo joke Hamuis injured himself by hip checking Lucic? pusssssssssssssssssssssy

  • @FunHockeyVideos There's another difference, Marchand has a ring and Raymond doesn't...

  • Raymond touched the puck and Marchand didn't so... there's your penalty right.

  • @bostonbruinsrawesome burrows is a fag.

  • @FunHockeyVideos theres no difference in those hits
