  • Wouldn't it be possible to gear it so that the shaft would only turn once but the squirrel cage would turn 2? Or would that put to much load on the engine?

  • Sure it's possible. I'm not sure how much strain it would put on the engine, but I doubt it would be too much.

    If the blower actually had a purpose an electric motor would clearly be the way to go. But as it is, it gives a 50 year old engine something to do at shows, small uses around the shop, etc.

  • Why don't you reverse the way you have it belted? Wouldn't that move more air?

  • Go to your local HVAC repair shop and ask for a blower. We used to recycle at least 10 per week at my old job. They come out of old furnaces that get replaced due to age.

  • id hook an electric motor to it instead

  • switch the pullys arond see whats it like

  • heck yeah they can move some air i wish i could find one so bad:)
