Stay Away From An OD? I "gave up" on ODs a long time ago. (Yes there are some "good ones"). But now, I check my refractive state myself, and obtain any lens I need from Zennioptical for $10. For medical checks (if my checking shows it) I go to an ophthalmologist. No sense in paying $180K -- when I can take care of this situation myself. Thanks for your video.
@jnaoos, optometry is the absolute worst profession that any unfortunate soul could fall into right now. I spent 180K dollars and spent 4 years in hell plus a year of residency, only to graduate from my residency to discover that there are WAY too many ODs. Low pay, poor quality work, and a disastrous career outlook are all reasons not to go into optometry. Unless you want to work at Wal Mart or Sam's Club, don't waste your money on an OD degree.
This video completely overlooks the fact that Optometrists in all states are licensed to prescribe medications for the treatment of eye and eye related diseases. In most states, optometric prescribing privileges are the same as all of the other doctors. This video creates the impression that glasses and contact lenses are the only treatment that Optometrists prescribe. Video is inaccurate.
To a large portion of Americans, Optometrists are the provider of all facets of non surgical eye care.
