Improvisation by my group. Archtop Brownie on guitar, Dan Lopata on Bass, Jonathan De Souza on violin and Alpha Stewart on Percussion. We just start playing and whatever happens happens. Threw in some details of a few of my improvised paintings to give you something to watch while you're listening. I don't call this "free jazz" because I think too often what comes to mind when you say that is a group of skilled musicians who are all playing solos at the same time. That's not my cup of tea. I like improvisations based in not only jazz, but more so in blues, classical, folk and world music. Hope this floats your boat.

  • Oh yes, I know it Rob. Thanks for that comparison. I'll be posting some other pieces in the next few days that may take you to different spaces. Really appreciate your understanding how, when and where the muse is operating. Stay in touch... and keep an ear/eye out for the next posting.
