AH NEE MAH is a side project of prolific producers David and Diane Arkenstone, who explore the sounds of the Native Southwest within the context of tribal atmospheres. Their first few albums under the moniker proved to be pleasant, earthy affairs, conjuring up visions of canyons and dusty plateaus; ANCIENT VISIONS continues down that same road. The Arkenstones' mutual flair for semi-dramatic, colorful melodies is evident on each of the album's nine tracks, often featuring Native flute in the forefront while light rhythm, guitar, symphonic synths and natural sound effects (wind, animal sounds) dance in the backdrop.
We've roamed the wild country
My beautiful yellow eyes
Side by side we've hunted
Shadows dancing on northern skies
There have been times of plenty
We were content and serene
Peacefully sleeping
Dangers few and far between
We've also known much hunger
Ribs protruding from each side
Mournfully we howled
When our starving cubs had died
And then there was our first winter
Romping through the glistening snow
Tasting each crystal snowflake
Falling gently to and fro
Ah my dear, sweet yellow eyes
I've known no greater love
Without you I am nothing
Our wild souls are one
And now you lay there dying
Steel jaws upon your frame
Life's blood slowly seeping
I whisper your sweet name
Helpless, I watch you struggle
Chest heaving with labored breath
Steel jaws clenching tighter
Winds whisper the song death
The blood has now stopped flowing
I know the time is near
And you will forever leave me
My love, my life, my dear
And now my world is silent
Your struggles now have ceased
I lay my head upon you
And now you are at peace
Perhaps your soul has lifted
To skies where eagles soar,
And there you'll greet your brothers
To run with them forever more
And someday I shall find you
In the heaven's so far above
And when our wild soul's unite
They'll be no greater love

Native American wisdom !
------------------------------
Most recently, Manitu made the people. Despite the last, and was the hilfloseste of all beings, the man received the largest gift - the ability to dream!

@10Charly47 - Thank you Charly, we feel the same way about nature and Native American culture and wisdom. If only Native Americans ruled the world instead of the men who abuse, who keep taking, who keep drilling oil, who keep removing and blasting thousands of acres of mountaintops, and the coal mining, our world would be a better place.

My friend, I have been to this amazing place Yosemite, it reminds me of how early peoples were in tune with nature, in balance and harmony ... and this is what I pray will happen in time again ... with care Tim

@maple1255 - Tim, those early settlers, pioneers, mountain men and Natives Americans were extraordinary people who lived very harsh lives. We may know how to operate a calculator and computers but those people knew how to live off the land. Most of us wouldn't know how and would not last a week. That time has always fascinated me and always will. Thank you for watching!
