As at naturopathic physician, I have seen the gluten-free, casein-free diet work wonders, but not for all. There are additional food constituent eliminations that I have found success with in other autistic children. Keep exploring for other dietary and non-dietary causes!

@ali786haq - My son is unusual because he spoke at a normal age, but only in echolalia (repeating whatever you said, but understanding none of it.) I would strongly recommend seeing a DAN doctor in your area--there is far more that can be done beyond going GFCF. Your son may have additional food sensitivities (which can be found using an IgG allergy test,) or GI infections (which can also be tested for,) or many other things. A good DAN doctor can help you find exactly the treatments he needs.

There are many gluten-free rice cereals for babies which are fortified with iron. There are also many other foods rich in iron like meats and vegetables that come in pureed baby food format. When your child is older, beans, nuts, dried fruits, and eggs are also high in iron. If nothing else you can use a basic infant multivitamin supplement.
