I second that. BIB's are way over called in HS football. The rule says Initial contact is in the back, INSIDE the shoulders below the helmet and above the waist. This block was on the back side of the shoulders, not inside. My philosophy has always been, when in doubt it's not a foul. It's difficult to rule on those blocks in this situation at high speeds though.

Agreed this is not a block in the back. And refs need to make sure that the entire block is seen before making that call.

This is a side block. End zone shot is clear. Flank official may not have had the best angle. In this situation, the R may have had a good look and could have provided the flank with more information. BIB are perhaps the most incorrectly called foul in HS football. The speed of the hit, angles, and officials not prepared or watching only the tail end of the contact are most often the reasons why BIBs are wrongly called.
