  • The voice is an instrument. The lips forming words are only a part of what voicing can render, and how we may appreciate musical magic. Enunciation is a classical ideal for a certain kind of appreciation. Jazz and R& B developed among people that brought other than enunciation to music. Listen to the overall sound of a singer. Listen to songs in a foreign language that you do not know. Hear the music.

  • The voice is an instrument as well. This means that sonority may upstage

what you may want to hear in the poetry of the lyrics, especially in the style

of music that she sings. The "rule" about enunciation that is favored in

classical institutions does not fit across the board for all kinds of singing.

  • Anita is so REAL and down to earth. God love her!

  • don't get me wrong i love patti but if you listen to the music that made her famous for a solo artist and then listen to the music she is recording now, it is totally different. its different because she is trying to tap into the hip hop crowd and it just ain't working for ME. you might like it but i don't. i'll just stick with the greatest hits albums.

  • first of all Miss patti don't have to fit any anybody generations sweetie!!!!!!!!!!! she in a CLASS all by herself untouchable don't get it twisted!!!!!!!!!! honey she is the true talent of yesterday, today,& eternity!!!!!!!!!!

  • cool

  • thank you. same thing with sade...the artists that have stayed true to their roots and art are the ones that last. anita can be gone for 10 years and still sell out concerts within 1 day....

  • the reason why anita isn't mentioned is because she isn't on every red carpet or trying to fit into the in-crowd and give into the hip hop generation like Patti has or the "Mr. Biggs". I have nothing against those artists but anita stays true to the music that made her famous. if it ain't broke don't fix it. she also keeps her business her business. she's not out getting drunk or high and making headlines. she's either on tour or at home with her family. simple.

  • Men if you wanna impress the ladies.Put on Anita baker and some candles
