We had all seen the sites. I bought the adaptors and did a side by side. They sound as good as a 6L6 but run out of steam at higher volume but not enough to complain they are still earth shaking. No 6L6 looked this good with the lights off stunning. Adds about 1/2 inch overall to tube legnth. I have listened to the RCA's CBS's and the Sylvanias still have not listened to the so called STR Phillips 6bg6's but will soon. Why the Video when sounds bad on my PC? Well buy a Monsoon its like being there. I like the 6bg6 but not enough to rewire my amp yet the STR's may change my mind. The kit is easy but mine came with one cracked socket the glue part is tricky keeping them all even and straight. Allot of mention of the 7027a but no pinouts provided. One socket needed sanded out for the ceramic base to fit properly.

  • Lesson # 1.- YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH THE PINK FLOYD!

  • @perfuzz

The tubes can't produce anymore power than the circuit is capable of.

  • I've read, somewhere, that 6BG6GA supposed to manage 35W dissipation. Shouldn't they have more juice than 6L6s..?

  • A pair of 6L6G tubes in a class B push-pull configuration, with all the right voltages will reach an output of 47 watts RMS. A single ended output will reach 23.5 watts RMS. These specs came from both the RCA and GE tube manuals, circa 1965.

  • Love the pnk Floyd!!! And the Stereo

  • They "Run out of steam at higher volumes" because they need more current. If you adapted them into a stock amplifier set up for 6L6's and hit the play button, they are being starved. Don't waste your time with 7027, lots of money for a scarce industrial grade powerhouse. It is the same tube as what is in this video with no top anode connection. At next to free on EvilBay, these rock. I just picked up 20 there for a dollar apiece. Stay with these, or go KT66 is my 2 cents.

  • wow the music of the gods in the gods amps xD

  • "Wow! nice, no microphonics with those tubes setting on top of the speakers?"

  • "Echoes" by Pink Floyd.

  • I listen to tube amplifiers almost exclusively in my Ampex 620's. Even want to put a pair with an inverter in my car.
