People tend to talk shit about it, and granted those are the ones who see it on the news and think the entire bloody island is what they've seen in a thirty second spot, the truth it yes there is a large number of people who hail from different parts of the world, despite the problems haitians are the most welcoming of people you'll come across, and thats why you'll find an insane amount of outsiders who want to stay.

I'm sad to see a lot of ignorant comments toward Haiti and the Haitian people. I'm from Guatemala, which also has a bad reputation for violence and poverty but if you're willing to look past all the negatives, you'll find a truly gentle people. Despite the earthquakes, political unrest and other misfortunes, the spirit of the locals of both nations still stands.

I miss the traffic, the noise, the chaos in Haiti. Driving on the streets in Chicago now makes me think I am driving on a piece of glass, whereas in the past I thought the streets here were terrible.
