my son is 13 months and he is making lots of noise and loves to talj in his own way so i am a little worries that sign language will just make him mute. i want to encourage him to speak, even if he doesnt make sense because that way he will learn to talk and not make signs. he also is half japanese so i need him to speak two languages.

@LittleMimis1019 Lilah can talk just fine. She actually turned two yesterday and talks all the time. We were teaching her sign language at this time, so she could communicate better with us.

Why 14 month old still not talking? My son is 8 months old and can speak, the girls begin to talk faster than boys. Just a lot of talking with your child children learn quickly and are willing to joint talks.

I do not want anyone to consider it malice, but for me it's a little surprise.

Perhaps this is also dependent on the country that some children grow slower and others faster.

@LibbySmith0003 That is good. I have a friend who's cousin didn't speak until she was four because her parents taught her sign language and she didn't want to use anything else, so I've been discouraged. I'm glad it worked out for you guys. That's wonderful. ^.^

@projectdurden The younger a person is, the easier it is for them to learn languages, especially multiple languages at a time.

My 10 month old brother sais: Ga ga like a duck and does the chicken impression too.

Than he knows how to clap and how to do a high five. He also knows the sound of a dog and knows where the clock is =D I just love him
