I dont care if he speaks english or not... all i care is that he is a Yankee and his the best.. if your not in NY Yankees you can speak the best of the best english i wouldn't give a fuck! I think that he knows english fair enough he uses the interpreter just for Japanese reporters to understand cause remember his not just famous here in the US his also 10x more famous in Japan...

Wheather they can or can not, they have a pressure from Japanese media to Not to speak English at all in Public. It is up to their choice to wheather cut out the connection with Japanese media or not.
Again, it is against Japanese culture to be international, or Americanise. If you choose to be so, you will be totally banned from Japanese community, and will have nothing to do after they retired and come back to Japan. Somehow, it happened to Nomo.
