  • I have to admit, it looks tame in the movie but it was really slick back there. The bald headed tires certainly did not help the situation.....lol

  • great video ,any shots of old Monon coaling towers and or Turntables

  • The area where you stopped and filmed a junk pile was the approximate location of the roundhouse. The piers were beveled at the upstream side to allow debris to pass without hanging up. (didn't work very well) As I remember there were 26 tracks at 173rd. The offices were at 173rd and there was also a piggyback trailer loading area there.

  • The pictures at the end really capped off this series of videos nicely.

  • I visited the yard around 2005 I think it was, & I am 98% certain the freighthouse still had a roof, & I went in, & looked around. Unless it was a different building I was in. I remember taking pictures... I guess now I am going to have to look through several hundred / thousands of photos to find out! But thanks!!!

  • Thanks for the great videos! I've wondered my whole life what the heck was there. Of course I did know, but I've never seen pictures of it! It is just so fascinating to see things in complete abandonment and wonder what was once there.

  • yea i allways wonder y or what that empty lot was from i usualy go back there to test out my truck in the mud lol i never whent as far back as u did thow but those tracks run rite bhind my house and i live by the graveyard on 165th gess they go far and thers sum history to them

  • This is awesome - thank you for taking the time to make these videos!

  • I thought for some resion there was sill some track left in the yard maybe 3-4 tracks and the foundation for the freight house was still there in the weeds. There was a lot of rummers that South Shore wants to put the line back in and re-due the yard for storage

  • Good video Ryan, better make sure your spare is good next time you go in there, Maybe throw in some wood blocks too cause jacking up your truck in the mud can be tricky LOL
