@cowboy56ize I know all about hard work with horses. I'm working 6 days a week 5.30am-8pm and on call all those hours in between so there are often nights where I'm lucky to get 4 hours sleep. True, I don't have experience in the Western horse industry, but I'm lucky enough to know the difference between a 'job' and a 'lifestyle', and any work involving horses is the latter, no matter where in the world you are :) Good for you that you have work you can be proud of.

I have the best job in the world breaking horses and ranch work. My sister called me crazy after my horse and I wear flipped by a cow and Kept working but she needs her city lights. We live pay check to pay check but if you love your job it dosent matter that much.
@expedition,, thanks,, what are they raised for? I see some older horses and many mares in foal. Just wonder what they are raiseing them for. The market is really bad for any kind of saddle horse, so I am curious as to why they are breeding them.

@qhgypsy They are all saddle horses for ranchs and dude ranches and they do not breed horses they buy and sell as needed. None of these are with foal.

So where are they going with all of those horses?

They are moving them from one pasture to a new pasture with better grass and more feed.

I'd love to be able to say this was my job! It looks like you need a lot of skill with horses but it looks really enjoyable too. Do you know if it's hard to get a job on a ranch maybe doing work like this (or just working with horses in general) in Montana?

Wrangling is a great way of life. Finding a job is not usually difficult even for the inexperienced. Search for dude ranches in Montana and other western states then contact them about a job. It is summer work so now is hte time to start looking. Good luck.
