The Holy Bible tells a story of how Elisha cursed some children to be destroyed by wild bears, because they mocked his bald head. Apparently killing children is not immoral when you do it by evoking God's supernatural powers.

Why are we allowing our children to be taught this stuff?

  • This was the first story in the Bible that really got me to look at it in a different light. I mean, sicking bears on kids for calling a guy bald? Wow...

  • @pernch Yeah, when that pastor read us that story in high school to scare us for having ridiculed our teacher, I was a little shocked to say the least.

  • @pernch The word LADS in Hebrew is ''naar'' and it means YOUNG MEN and NOT children. This word was used in the Scripture but of course Satan will try and play dirty tricks so that people can hate God. Elisha was going to Bethel wich at the time needed correction the city became idolatrous. Everyone knew Elisha was a man of God specially Satan so would have tried anything to stop God's message been tought in the city. Those "young men" mocked not only Elisha but God's power. Holy spirit.

  • @rencas Hi Rencas, I agree with pernch on this one. Reading the entire passage, which is very small, there is not much context to put there. Children mocked the prophet, he cursed them and they were all mauled to death by bears. The punishment certainly doesn't fit the crime, if you want to call mocking a crime. Does age really make it any more fair and any less vile?

  • That's fucked up.

  • Know what I mean?!

  • @MtlRedAtheist As someone who has been made fun of before, I say the little cunts got what they deserved.

  • @rencas

"God is hated by those who don't know him. "

    Another ridiculous statement.

Assuming that you don't know any leprechauns.....do you hate them?

  • @rencas And the word that comes before it is "qatan" which means small or young in the context that its used in this passage. But honestly, it doesn't matter if they were chain-swinging street thugs. How is being torn to shreds by bears a reasonable punishment for calling a prophet bald-headed? .

  • @ProudHumanist ALSO I AM VERY SORRY AND DO APOLOGISE on their behalf WHEN YOU SEE CHRISTIAN PEOPLE SHOUTING BAD THINGS AGAINST GAY OR ANY TYPE OF PEOPLE. THEY TRULY DON'T REPRESENT GOD BUT ARE JUST LIKE YOU, PEOPLE WHO NEED GUIDENCE. God is hated by those who don't know him. The only way to know him is by studying his word and willingly obey him.

If you could reason with religious people, there would be no religious people.
