Won the King George as a novice at about 16/1 and I was on. He stayed my favourite over the years. RIP Dessie.

I don't believe that codwallop about Dessie being drugged. It sounds to me like the rantings of someone who is out to discredit the unsurpassed record of one of the greatest steeplechasers who ever stepped onto a racecourse. Desert Orchid was a horseracing legend in his own lifetime and is universally acclaimed as one of the all time greats. Added to which he is also one of the best loved and still commands a massive fan club.

Yes, Dessie sadly passed away almost a year to the day at 27 years old. It was on the front page of every major British newspaper including the Times, who did an obituary. An outstanding racehorse with massive abudance of character & spirit to match his obvious huge talent.

Did you know Dessie was nearly put down in his first ever race as a 5 year old at Kempton in a novice hurdle..he fell at the last and was down for 15 minutes...they were about to put him down and he jumped up...incredible dont you reckon...the rest is history!!!!
