Just a quick video on how to edit the tempo track within Studio One. Just another simply well laid out feature for this DAW. So far everything I have learned with it has been made so easy and lends perfectly to a smooth and easy work flow. Check it out

  • how do you change the tempo of a imported file?

  • @guitar0124 That's the time stretch feature. Hold down the Alt key and put the arrow right at the end of the file and you'll see it become a Clock. Drag it right and the file slows down. Drag left and the file gets faster. I don't have a video on this yet but give it a try. We can do a Skype session also and I can show you live, right there.

  • Say I wanted to slow down only one track? i.e I have a piano part that sounds slightly fast, and I mean very slightly. It seems to hit on time, but sounds just a little fast. Does that alt, grab and drag you posted at sitmatt13 apply here?

    Thanks

  • @foxdfive1 If the entire track is just playing early (but never speeds up more by the end, then what you need to do is shift it, not speed it up. You can do this in the inspector for just that track by using the "Delay" option. Typing a negative number makes it play earlier but in your case, type in a number like 20 and see if that shifts it enough forward to make it sound synced. Now if it starts ok but speeds up as the song goes forward, then the Alt and drag function applies.

  • How do I adjust file tempo?

  • @sitmatt13 As I described it for Foxdrive. Making it smaller will speed it up if it's too slow. Making it longer will slow it down.

  • got it thanks

  • Well done Johnny! Clear and concise. Thank you..

  • Thanks muzic, I just tried it and it hit the slow down quite abruptly, The edit you made in the middle of your video( not the end). I didnt see you gradually step down to the slower tempo. Example, my song 110 bpm I slow down to lets say95 and then come back up. You must have gradually slowed it down. Ill look again --

  • @foxdfive1 Yes! It makes it smaller but it will speed it up if it's too slow. Making it longer will slow it down. That's the time stretch!
