Freeze sounds with Max MSP Jitter using FFT and Inverse FFT. For this video to be really useful, you will need to download the free Max/MSP/Jitter patches on http://www.cycling74.com/share.html
To get more "under the hood" insight, download the free article "A Tutorial for Spectral Sound Processing with Max/MSP and Jitter" on http://www.mitpressjournals.org/doi/abs/10.1162/comj.2008.32.3.87
The audio freeze max patches are available again: cycling74 just reconnected the "old" share page contents. I updated the web link in the video information.

Hi hayood123,
The cycling74 web site has been updated recently: the user pages are currently "coming soon". So, in the meantime, just e-mail me or send me a private message with your e-mail address. I'll send all of the patches to you.

Not in Logic nor Live. You can use the patches if you download them and Max Runtime application (free). Then you could use a sound routing application (for instance SoundFlower on Mac) to exchange sounds with Logic or Live.

very cool
is this function built into Logic, Live, or any of the more consumer-oriented audio hosts?

By the way, now that Max for Live has been announced, we could almost say that this will be available from within Live... Hopefully soon.
