This is Fort Ringgold, also known as Ringgold Barracks. Pictures are present day. This area currently belongs to the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District (RGCCISD).

Fort Ringgold was a military reservation consisting of 325 acres on the east side of Rio Grande City, Texas. Named in honor of Brevet Major David Ringgold. In 1850 it was declared a permanent fort by the War Department.

Special thanks to J.D. Villarreal for providing these pictures (all except the Robert E Lee house restored picture). Visit his website: http://riogrande.fws1.com/photoa.html

  • @meltedsmile80 Yes, it's located in Rio Grande City along HWY 83. The first picture of the video is the main entrance (right across Burger King). You can choose to walk around and see the buldings or simply cruise around the area.
