@909chuck It's not that things were so unsafe then. It's that now we have "progressed" to having to be protected from ourselves, There are those advocating ending dodgeball on playgrounds. The very cars that founded this sport and took American cars to speeds European cars only dreamed of often had home built/oxy-acetylene welded drum brake creations that still managed to hold together just fine. We still lose drivers. We lose more because of booze. Even though the bottles are higher tech.

Thanx. growing in the '50's and '60's- "Motor Capital" of the world this was your life. Son of a Ford design engineer, brother: major "Gearhead" Watching these images brings back terms like: (for you yungin's)! Full moons, Moon tanks, Isky, "Dusted", Blew his doors off, Shut down, Scallops, White wall slicks, "Trips", Shackled, raked, bull nosed, lead sled, all show no go, scavenger pipes, lakers, blue dots, duallies, lacing, the bowls, chopped, channeled, sectioned, ARDUN to name a few.....

It is so sweet taking the time trip back. Now I realize how unsafe so many of those cars were and all the drivers we lost. It is a mixture of joy, nostalgia and sadness in this new age. Well, that's the way it WAS. Who knows how the future will see us, our behavior and standards. I wonder. . .
